Put on the Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 13:14 NKJV
Share
What are you wearing today? Do you feel convicted sometimes about what you wear? I’ve heard stories from Christians who picked clothes to wear for an outing and the Holy Spirit literally nudges them to change into something else.
Our anchor scripture says that “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
While this verse is not about physical clothing, it does call us to examine our choices including what we wear so that we don’t unintentionally stir up lust or lead others into sin. The life we are living is not our own (Galatians 2:20). It’s a life entrusted to us by God, and one day we will give an account of how we lived it. Because of that, we should be careful not to leave any open doors for the enemy to use against us or undermine God’s work in our lives.
The Passion Translation puts it beautifully, “Instead fully immerse yourselves into the Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, and don’t waste even a moment’s thought on your former identity to awaken its selfish desires.”
So as you step out today, be mindful not only of your outward appearance, but also of every word and action. Let everything about you reflect the life of Christ that you’ve received, and may that life bless others wherever you go.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your word. Create in me a clean heart, Oh Lord, and renew a right spirit within me. Teach me to know Your ways, and let my life bring glory to You, in Jesus name I pray, Amen!
